MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 delivers up to 7.5 hours of playback time. Using the charging case, which features an integrated power bank, the earphones can be charged on-the-go for a total of 30 hours of playback time.
The earbuds charge automatically once placed into the charging case. The case itself can be charged either via an USB-C cable or by Qi wireless charging.
Using USB-C, the MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 will be fully charged after approx. 1.5 hours. Furthermore, with just 8 minutes of charging you can get already additional 1.5 hour playback time. By Qi wireless charging the charging time may be extended compared to USB-C charging.
However, due to the 30 hours total playback time, charging of the MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 is only rarely necessary.
With this new generation of MOMENTUM True Wireless and the Smart Control App there are several intuitive ways to customize the sound. Once the set-up is done, all EQ parameters are stored inside the earbuds, making the personalized sound available with any music source.
Sound customization features of the MOMENTUM True Wireless 4:

Left and right earbuds may have different control assignments, and these can be changed easily by the Sennheiser Smart Control app.
Although customization is made easy, the default touch control assignments have been created to provide an intuitive option for users that want to control music, phones calls and voice assistance.
To make it even more convenient to use, the MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 provides the possibility to use the left and right earbud individually. It can be used in different situations - for example when you need to stay aware to your surroundings while still listening to the important call or in case you need to charge one of the earbuds during a call. You can dynamically decide whether you want to use both earbuds or only one.
Users can activate a preferred voice assistant such as Google Assistant or Apple Siri by a convenient tap gesture on the earbud. The voice assistant selection depends on the specific smartphone configuration. Via the Sennheiser Smart Control app, the user can customize this control to use any touch gesture for voice assistant selection or, if preferred can disable voice assistant access.
MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 earbuds have a splash resistant design for all weather conditions. They have been successfully tested to meet IP54* standards, which means they are splash resistant and can be used in the rain. However, they are not meant to be submerged under water, worn in the shower or rinsed under running water. Wetted earbuds should be dried up with cloth before docking back to charging case.
The charging case itself is not tested for waterproofness.

You can pair MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 with up to six different Bluetooth devices. The earbuds stores and remembers these pairings.

The earbuds build to last for long lifetime and we offer replacement parts and a 2 years global warranty program.
The MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 offers over a dozen improvements--one of them being battery reliability. A limited number of MOMENTUM True Wireless 3 experienced inconsistent battery performance, which has been and will continue to be exchangeable under our 2-year warranty. As we do not manufacture batteries ourselves, we have combined MOMENTUM True Wireless 3 customer feedback with extensive testing of defective units to exhaustively examine our battery supplier standards and processes. We have since selected a new, trusted partner for the MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 and all future Sennheiser products. During use…
• Wake up the earbuds by placing them into the charging case and connecting the USB-C cable. We recommend to fully charge the MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 before first time use.
• Select the correct ear adapter from a selection of four sizes (XS, S, M, L). Choose the ear adapter size that provides an exceptionally good seal to enjoy the best possible audio experience.
• Twist the earbuds slightly into your ear for perfect and secure fit.
• Optimize the secure fit by selecting one of the ear fins (S, M, L). Choose the ear fin size what fits best to your ear shape.
• Pair the earbuds with your smartphone. The Bluetooth pairing mode is activated automatically once you first power-on the earbuds. Alternatively, you can manually activate pairing mode by pressing both touchpads for at least 3 seconds. In the Bluetooth menu of your smartphone, select “MOMENTUM TW 4”.
• A voice prompt will inform you once the pairing was completed successfully. Alternatively, the LED indicator at the earbuds will indicate a successful Bluetooth connection by blue.
• Download the Sennheiser Smart Control app from your app store to run the earbud fit test and to personalize your MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 experience.

- The MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 has been created to provide exceptional sound performance, thanks to Sennheiser’s TrueResponse™ transducers, the internal audio EQ and latest high-resolution Bluetooth codecs.
- However, to experience this sound to the fullest, it is essential to correctly place the earbuds in the ear-canal and to choose the best-fitting ear adapter and ear fin set. The MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 comes with four sizes of ear adapters (XS, S, M, L) or 3 sizes of ear fins (S, M, L) included in the box. The MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 quick guide explains precisely how to twist the earbuds into your ears to form a perfect seal within the ear-canal. It might be possible that you need different ear adapter or ear fin sizes per ear.
- By the Sennheiser Smart control app you can run an earbud fitting test, which checks the correct sealing of your device.
- Please note that the sound may have been adjusted using the EQ function of the Sennheiser Smart Control app. To see if this is the case, connect to the Smart Control app and check the equalizer settings to ensure the desired sound.
The specified battery time of 7.5 hours (total battery life of 30 hours including charging case) has been confirmed for music listening under the following conditions:
- MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 earbuds are fully charged for at least 1.5 hours
- iPhone within 1-meter distance
- Bluetooth AAC codec
- Volume level set to mid-level
- Transparency Mode and Active Noise Cancellation feature turned off
- Customized EQ turned off
The playback time may differ under different operating conditions.
When using ANC or Transparency Mode outdoors in stormy weather conditions or when cycling, wind noise may have impact on the listening experience. As MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 has been designed to be portable it utilizes small microphones which, due to their compact nature can’t also be optimized for certain strong wind situations. Under wind conditions, it is recommended to enable the “Anti-Wind” mode within the Sennheiser Smart Control app.
When using the Sennheiser Smart Control app, you will receive a notification once a new firmware release is available. The app will guide you through the update process. The firmware update will be installed over-the-air via the Bluetooth wireless connection.
Additionally, you can always check for the current firmware release status in the Smart Control app’s settings.
Auracast™ will be available via a firmware update later in the year, so please make sure to always install the latest firmware update throughout the Sennheiser Smart Control app. Once this feature is unlocked, you will receive a notification by our Sennheiser Smart Control app.

The MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 has integrated power-saving features. When the earbuds are disconnected from a Bluetooth source and not in use, they can be configured to switch off automatically.
The duration until earbuds gets switched off automatically can be customized by the Sennheiser Smart Control app, by default it is set to “never”.
To turn the earphones on again, press one of the touch pad or place them for a brief time into the charging case.
In the device settings menu of the Sennheiser Smart Control app you can select between 4 different audio resolution modes:
- Standard - High quality audio codecs are used like SBC, AAC, aptX™ Adaptive or LC3
- High-Resolution – High resolution audio codec up to 24bit / 96kHz audio resolution
- Lossless – Bit-by-bit exact wireless transmission with 16bit/ 44.1kHz audio resolution
- Low Latency – Latency optimizations of Standard audio codecs, e.g. for mobile gaming
Please consider, that the audio resolution mode “Standard” provides the most robust wireless audio transmission, so select “standard” when you are in high interference situations like public crowded places.
The audio resolution “Standard” delivers already a high-quality audio experience with support for AAC, aptX™ and aptX™ Adaptive as well as LC3 depending on the capabilities of your audio source.
It is recommended to enable the advanced audio resolution modes “High-Resolution” and “Lossless” only when you intend to enjoy the sound performance down to the last detail.
When activated, either the “High-Resolution” or “Lossless” mode gets defined as the preferred mode. To ensure a seamless audio experience without any dropouts, the device adaptively might decide to scale down to “Standard” again. Which codec and audio resolution you are actually using can be checked in the Smart Control app in the settings menu at item “Codec”.
Thanks to the support for LE Audio and further improvements by enhanced audio capabilities of Qualcomm’s powerful Snapdragon Sound technology, the MTW4 has an incredible ultra-low latency down to 20ms. In combination with their true-to-life sound, they are perfectly suited for gaming, even for highest demand on performance.
Highest performance can be only achieved by a Snapdragon Sound LE audio system on the audio source side. By this setup we can even enable a voice backchannel for communication while experiencing the superior Sennheiser sound quality in parallel. For Bluetooth classic we recommend activating the Low Latency mode in the Sennheiser Smart Control app, which will do already some improvements on latency, but the results are depending on the audio source codec support and capabilities.
The battery level indicator always shows the remaining battery life of the earbud side with less power.
Examples:
- If left earbud has 50% battery level and right earbud has 80% battery level, it indicates 50% battery level.
- If left earbud has 90% battery level and right earbud has 20% battery level, it indicates 20% battery level.
- If only right earbud is in use and left earbud remains in the charging case, it indicates the right earbud battery level.
The MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 is certified for QI wireless charging as a convenient charging option. When charging wireless, please note the following:
- Charge only with QI certified wireless charging pads.
- Place the MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 charging case with the earbuds into the middle of the Qi wireless charging pad.
- Depending on the charging pad the charging might start with a few seconds of delay.
- At higher ambient temperatures charging slows down. Check the manual for the specified temperature range for charging.
- The charging time is extended by wireless charging compared to USB-C charging.
- For safety reasons, in general do not charge products unattended.
Auracast™ is a new way to share and stream audio. With Auracast™, streams get accessible in public areas similar to WiFi. There can be open, free accessible streams or closed ones. Auracast™ is part of standard Bluetooth and so proprietary solution, so with more and more new LE Audio based devices the offerings will increase, so this is very dynamic. Some manufactures of smart phones and TV sets even announced, that current devices are getting by firmware upgrades for Auracast™ capabilities. Currently there is no official list of public sites available, where Auracast™ can be experienced already. If this gets available, we will update you here.
Lossless audio delivers the basically the ultimate sound quality, the wireless audio transmission is mathematically bit-by-bit exact, so as a listener you do not need to be concerned to miss any details of the original audio content. The audio resolution for the wireless lossless transmission is 41.1kHz and 16bit, the same quality as on a CD (compact disc).
In order to enjoy the “Lossless” audio quality, the audio source needs to support it as well, since this format is not a Bluetooth standard.
Ensure the following:
- The smartphone or audio source needs to be Snapdragon Sound certified
- The smartphone or audio source needs to support aptX™ Adaptive Lossless
- Activate “Lossless” audio resolution mode in the Sennheiser Smart Control app

First at all, attention: Liquids can damage the electronics of the product!
Liquids entering the housing of the product can cause a short-circuit and damage the electronics. So, keep all liquids far away from the product and do not use any solvents or cleansing agents!
Only clean the charging case with a soft, dry cloth. Clean the earbuds with a slightly damp cloth.
Regularly, check the ear tips and nozzle part for any blocking dirt. If necessary, do the following steps for cleaning:
- Remove the ear adapters from the earbuds’ in-ear sound tunnels.
- Using a dry, clean brush (e.g. toothbrush), lightly brush over the in-ear sound tunnel openings to remove any dirt above the protective fabric. Avoid damaging the protective fabric within the in-ear sound tunnels to prevent dirt or debris from entering the electronic.
- You can clean the silicone ear adapters and silicone ear fins under lukewarm running water. Let the ear adapters and ear fins dry at room temperature for at least 12 hours before re-attaching them to the earbuds.
- Clean the charging contacts on the earbuds and in the charging case from time to time, e.g. with a cotton swab.
To remove any dirt such as dust accumulation or lint from the USB socket of the charging case:
- Blow into the USB socket or carefully brush a fine object (e.g. a toothpick or the bristles of a toothbrush) through the opening of the socket.
If a problem occurs…
If the functions of the earbuds are disturbed, you will need to perform a software reset to initialize the earbuds. A software reset will be done each time you insert the earbuds into the charging case and wait for at least 10 seconds.
If the functions of the earbuds are disturbed and a soft reset does not fix the issue, reset the earbuds to the factory default settings. This deletes, among other settings, all pairing settings.
You can reset the earbuds to the factory default settings using the Smart Control app in the settings menu.
Using the Smart Control app is the easiest way to perform a factory reset.
Alternatively, you can reset the earbuds to the factory default settings by the following steps (well, we made it extra difficult to avoid any unintended factory resets):
- Disconnect your MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 from any Bluetooth connection by deactivating Bluetooth at your audio sources (smartphone etc.). If you are connected to an Auracast™ transmitter, disconnect it via the Smart Control app.
- Take only one earbud out of the charging case.
- Keep the other earbud inside the charging case and close the charging case lid.
- On the earbud outside of charging case, hold the touch control for at least 15 seconds.
- As soon as the earbud LED starts alternating green/red, release the touch control.
- After releasing the touch control, the earbud LED continues to alternate green/red.
- Take the second earbud out of the charging case.
- Now on the second earbud, hold the touch control for at least 15 seconds.
- As soon as the earbud LED starts alternating green/red, release the touch control.
- The earbuds are now getting again factory resetted and synced with each other, what takes a few seconds.
- Successful factory reset and earbud syncing is indicated by LED when it starts alternating blue/red.
- The factory deletes, among other settings, all Bluetooth pairing settings and your MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 needs to be paired again with your smartphone.
First at all, you should restart your smartphone and check for latest software updates of your phone.
If you can’t hear any audio, check the following:
Make sure that the earbuds are charged and connected to your Bluetooth device.
Check in the Bluetooth settings of your connected device that media and calls connection are activated.
Make sure the earbuds are inserted into your ears correctly.
Increase the volume on your Bluetooth device and on the earbuds by pressing on the right earbud’s touch pad until you hear the voice prompt “Volume max”.
Ensure that by Bluetooth multipoint the earbuds not unintentionally actively connected to another device. Try to switch of your other Bluetooth audio sources to which you might be connected.
If, after the steps above, audio still does not work, restart the earbuds (see “How can I reset the earbuds?”).
Start the search for Bluetooth devices on your smartphone and select “MOMENTUM TW 4”.
If Bluetooth pairing does not work, proceed in the following order:
- Charge the MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 for at least 1.5 hours to ensure they are fully charged. The charging LED pulsates yellow to indicate charging and permanent green to indicate they are fully charged.
- Take the earbuds out of the charging case.
- Simultaneously touch and hold the right and left touch control for 3 seconds to start pairing mode. The LED of the right earbud flash red and blue.
- Start the search for Bluetooth devices on your smartphone and select “MOMENTUM TW 3”.
- If necessary, enter the default pin code “0000” on your smartphone.
If, after the steps above, the Bluetooth pairing still does not work, restart the earbuds (see “How can I reset the earbuds?”).
Ensure that the charging contacts of the earbuds and the charging case are clean. If charging is still not possible, perform a reset and a factory reset of the earbuds.
The charging duration may be extended when using Qi wireless charging instead of USB-C charging.
For some Android smartphones there is a separate volume control for the Bluetooth headset and for the Android smartphone. Ensure that both volume controls are set to max. To increase volume, tap and hold the touchpad of the right earbud until you hear the voice prompt “Volume max”. Now increase the smartphone’s volume to maximum volume.
For smartphones that feature “absolute volume control” such as the Apple iPhone, there is only one volume control available, so you can either use the smartphone’s or MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 volume control.
Furthermore, you might not be able to perceive the full volume of the MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 because the earphones currently do not fit correctly. Please use the appropriate size of ear adapters so they fit snugly in your ear canal and completely seal your ears. For best results, follow the guidance in the quick guide on how best to place the earbuds into your ears.
By the Sennheiser Smart control app you can run an earbud fitting test, which checks the correct sealing of your device.
In case your calling partner experience a call with your voice highly disturbed by your surroundings, your Windows PC settings might be wrong, and instead of the microphones of MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 you might use the PC or notebook internal microphones. In this case also voices from other persons around can potentially disturb the call.
Ensure, that the Bluetooth audio profile of your Windows system is set to “MOMENTUM TW4 Hands-Free” before initiating a call. The audio profiles can be checked and changed in the Windows notification bar (lower right corner, loudspeaker symbol).
Also, in Teams ensure that device settings for speaker and microphones is set to MOMENTUM True Wireless 4.
In case the audio quality does is of poor quality and sounds “mono”-ish, most likely your Windows PC settings might be wrong, and you are in the handsfree protocol for phone calls instead of the Bluetooth stereo mode.
When listening to music or other high-quality audio, ensure, that the Bluetooth audio profile of your Windows system is set to “MOMENTUM TW4 Stereo”. The audio profiles can be checked and changed in the Windows notification bar (lower right corner, loudspeaker symbol). Also, in the Sennheiser Smart Control app under “Settings” you can check if the proper audio codec is used. In case of the phone call mode “No audio streaming” is shown.
Also, in Teams ensure that device settings for speaker and microphones is set to MOMENTUM True Wireless 4.
The MOMENTUM True Wireless blocks out ambient noise thanks to its Adaptive ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) feature which works in combination with its excellent passive noise attenuation and perfect fit in the ear canal.
The advanced system utilizes four microphones to continually monitor ambient noise levels and automatically optimize the level of noise cancellation performance to ensure a truly immersive experience. Thus, in a quite environment the level of ANC is reduced while it goes to its maximum performance in a noisy environment. The adaptive ANC works without negative impact on sound performance, i.e. no additional noise floor is introduced by the ANC system) and optimizes comfort (i.e. no ear pressure is introduced by ANC system). In case you experience only limited ANC performance, consider that in general ANC technology can only reduce ambient noise in low frequency range <1 kHz, e.g. engine sounds. The MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 excellent passive noise isolation additionally reduced significantly ambient noise in higher frequency ranges.
To achieve best possible sound isolation and ANC performance, it is important to choose the ear adapters that best fits your ears.
By the Sennheiser Smart control app you can run an earbud fitting test, which checks the correct sealing of your device.
Further, check that you haven’t activated Anti-Wind mode in Smart Control app to reach maximum ANC performance.
When you activate the audio resolution mode “Lossless”, its get defined as the preferred mode. To ensure a seamless audio experience without any dropouts, the device adaptively might decide to scale down to “Standard” again. Which codec and audio resolution you are using can be checked in the Smart Control app in the settings menu at item “Codec”.

- Repeat the OTA FW update or follow the instruction of the app
In case you experience any issues during the OTA firmware update of your MOMENTUM True Wireless 4, please follow the following steps:

When you are connected to a Windows PC in parallel to a 2nd audio device (e.g. a mobile phone), and you can’t play or hear audio from the 2nd audio device, ensure that the audio stream on the Windows PC has completely stopped. Some Windows system keep the audio connection active, even if you stopped the audio and blocks the MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 from switching to the other multipoint audio sources. This happens when the Windows system keeps using the Bluetooth handsfree protocol after a phone call, since calls have priority over music listening. In this case, change manually in the Windows notification bar (lower right corner, loudspeaker symbol) the audio profile from “MOMENTUM TW 4 Hands-Free” to “MOMENTUM TW 4 Stereo”.
Perfect synchronization of sound and image is dependent on the Bluetooth technology being used by your Bluetooth device. For best results make sure you are using a Bluetooth device which fully supports Audio Video Distribution Transport Protocol (AVDTP) 1.3 or higher. Thus, depending on the Bluetooth device or the mobile app the audio/video synchronization experience may vary. It is recommended to always use the latest software for your Bluetooth device or the mobile apps.
By the Sennheiser Smart control app you can activate the low latency mode, which improves the latency behavior of the device. For the best experience in standard Bluetooth mode, it is recommended to use an aptX™ Adaptive compatible system.
For most ambitious use cases like gaming down to approx. 20ms latency, an audio device is required, which support Snapdragon Sound in Bluetooth LE Audio mode.
It’s always best to test the supplied ear adapters to find the size that suits you best and delivers the best sound quality. The MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 packaging includes four different ear adapter sizes (XS, S, M, L) and three different ear fin sizes (S, M, L). Also try to twist the earbuds into your ear as described in the quick guide until you find a comfortable position. Please note that it might be possible that you need different ear adapter sizes per ear.
You may try to turn off and turn on the Bluetooth function on your smartphone to reset the Bluetooth module or reboot the smartphone.
You may try to perform a factory reset of the MOMENTUM True Wireless 4. Disconnect the MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 after the factory reset, i.e. remove entries “MOMENTUM TW 4” in the Bluetooth settings of your smartphone and pair MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 again.
If you find that your voice can’t be heard well by the other party on a phone call, you may wish to check the following: During phone calls, ensure that the earbuds are inserted correctly into the ear-canal and then rotate them slightly. Ideally rotate the earbud to ensure the correct beamforming angle for voice pickup (i.e. both outside microphone holes are in line to the mouth). Please also check that the microphone openings are not blocked by the ear itself.
It is recommended to use the correct ear adapter and ear fin size to form a perfect seal within the ear-canal for an optimal call quality experience in noisy environments. This ensures better noise reduction performance by the 3rd microphone of the earbuds.
Additionally, wind may have impact to the quality of the phone call.
When you disable the touch controls, all touch controls and touch sounds are disabled. This comes with one exception: You can always initiate the pairing mode by pressing both touch pads simultaneously for more than three seconds, when the earbuds are out of your ear. In this case, that you do not cover the in-ear sensors with your fingers.
When establishing a new Bluetooth connection with a Windows 11 system, the earbuds could under some rare conditions restart unintentionally. This issue was fixed with the latest update of your Windows 11 system, so please check that your Windows system has installed all the latest fixes and updates.
Alternatively, you can activate in your Windows system in the Bluetooth menu the “advanced” settings.
The MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 complies to latest Bluetooth standard version 4.3. When using third party communication apps like Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp, WeChat, or others, these apps do not fully comply to the Bluetooth standard depending on the release version. Thus, we cannot guarantee full control functionality by earbud touch gestures during a call. However, we can ensure a great overall call quality by our voice pickup system.
After updating the firmware of your earbuds, you might under certain conditions experience issues to re-connect your earbuds to a Windows PC. In such a case, please ensure the following:
- Update the Sennheiser Smart Control app to the latest release.
- Clear the cache for the Sennheiser Smart Control App in your phone.
- In the Connection Management, delete the Windows PC connection.
- On the PC, remove the MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 from the device list.
- Restart the Smart Control App.
- Pair MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 to your Windows PC again.
The earbuds could under some rare conditions restart unintentionally, when establishing a new Bluetooth connection with a Windows 11 system.

Yes, all MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 support Bluetooth 5.4 standard. Due to a late approval of BT 5.4, there are packaging from first production lots which still indicates BT 5.3, even if the device itself is fully BT 5.4 compliant.
The MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 is equipped with six low-noise microphones to offer the most natural transparency mode experience, while also providing superior ANC performance.
Due to the miniaturization of the microphones, a slight hissing noise is unavoidable, which we have reduced to a minimum in MOMENTUM True Wireless 4. For a most natural Transparency setup, we recommend the mid-level gain, what is the default setting and creates a most natural ambient sound experience. Setting the gain to the maximum increases the hissing noise, which might be audible for some users.
Some users have experienced a more audible hissing noise in mid-frequency range while in transparency mode at the left earbud. This can happen in certain cases, but only occurs when no audio is playing. We will release firmware updates soon to fix this scenario.
The MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 supports an advanced call mode called “super wideband audio” for the best phone call quality. This is currently not supported by the BTD 600 and creates this compatibility issue. We will release firmware updates for the BTD 600 soon to fix this.
Some users have experienced an issue with their Pixel phones when re-connecting automatically to their MOMENTUM True Wireless 4. In this case, manually re-connect via the Bluetooth menu of your phone. We will release firmware updates soon to fix this compatibility issue.

When noticing a difference in sound quality or volume between the left and right earbud, it might be caused by clogging of the ear tips and earbud nozzle. In this case, detach the ear tips from the earbuds for cleaning and follow the recommended cleaning instruction as described in the section “How shall I clean and maintain my earbuds?”.
When initiating phone calls with Xiaomi or Redmi phones, you might hear some strong humming noise with a few models of these brands. This was fixed with the latest system software updates of your Xiaomi or Redmi phone. In case you are observing this issue, please ensure that you have installed the latest phone system software.
