Wireless headphones enable you to enjoy TV and music in the comfort of your home. Discover the advantages of Sennheiser wireless headphones below:
- Independence: With wireless headphones, all family members can pursue their individual music and film tastes while sharing the same space. For example, while one person watches their favorite movie on TV, another can enjoy a good book right next to them undisturbed by the sound of the TV.
- Sound quality: The audio output of wireless headsets for TV grants you a much higher sound quality than traditional TV speakers. Sennheiser wireless headphones also offer a wide range of settings for you to personalize your listening experience according to your tastes.
- Freedom of movement: Unlike wired models, wire-free headphones give you complete freedom to move around. With a wireless range of up to 100 meters, you can enjoy the highest Sennheiser sound quality even over several floors.
A TV listening system consists of wireless headphones and a corresponding wireless audio transmitter. The transmitter must be connected to the audio output of your playback device, such as a TV or hi-fi system. There are three different transmission options available:
Infrared wireless headphones
If the wireless headphones receive their audio signal via infrared, there must be a direct line of sight between the headphones and the transmitter. As soon as this is interrupted, the audio transmission is canceled.
Analog wireless headphones
With analog transmission, there is always some background noise, but this is usually only perceptible during very quiet passages of music. Unlike many counterparts, the first-class Sennheiser sound can be enjoyed with little to no background noise. In addition, analog wireless headphones have a very long range: the connection is maintained even at distances of up to 100 meters from the transmitter.
Digital wireless headphones
In contrast to analog models, digital wireless headphones have the advantage that several wireless connections can be used simultaneously without causing interference. Since analog wireless headphones usually transmit on fixed channels, reception interference can occur as soon as several family members use different home entertainment devices with wireless headphones at the same time. Digital wireless headphones also offer the best sound quality of all three transmission types. However, they have a much shorter range than analog wireless headphones: the audio signal cuts out completely as soon as you move too far away from the transmitter.
In the Sennheiser online shop you will find the following types of headphones:
- Over-ear, on-ear, and in-ear wireless headphones
- Open and closed wireless headsets for TV
- Wireless and wired headphones for TV
The most suitable version will depend on your home audio requirements and preferences.
Over-ear, on-ear, or in-ear wireless headphones
Wireless headphones are available as over- or on-ear models that rest comfortably on the ear or around it, as well as earbuds to fit directly in the ear canal. Sennheiser wireless headphones guarantee the greatest wearing comfort either way.
With in-ear wireless headphones, you can choose between different sizes of silicone ear tips for the perfect fit. Over-ear and on-ear wireless headphones are made of lightweight materials and are designed to make long evenings of TV as comfortable as possible. Depending on your preferences, you can choose among the following Sennheiser models:
- In-ear wireless headphones: Set 880, RS 5000
- Over-ear wireless headphones: HD 599, HD 569, RS 175-U
Open vs. closed wireless headphones
Whether headphones are open or closed primarily affects the sound quality. Audiophiles usually prefer the natural sound quality of open-back headphones, however with these models sound travels more freely to the outside, making them less desirable when sharing one’s space with housemates or work colleagues. Sennheiser’s signature sound is available also via the following wireless headphones:
- Open wireless headphones: HD 599, RS 120 ll
- Closed wireless headphones: HD 569, RS 175-U, RS 195
Wireless vs. wired headphones
For those who enjoy home entertainment while moving freely around the house, wireless headphones are the preferred audio solution for obvious reasons. These models can be easily connected to your TV, hi-fi, or other device. However, not everyone is always on the go, and for a high-quality sound performance while comfortably watching TV on the couch wired headphones might be the right answer. The Sennheiser TV headphones range includes the following wireless and wired models:
- Wireless headphones for TV: RS 195, RS 175-U, RS 120 ll
- Wired headphones for TV: HD 569, HD 599
