Sennheiser Ambeo Soundbar Max and your TV
To ensure the best compatibility with this soundbar, we recommend connecting it to a TV with an eARC interface. eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel) is the latest audio return channel technology that supports high-bitrate audio formats such as Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS:X, MPEG-H and 360 Reality Audio, if the TV supports those codecs. This will provide you with the best possible audio quality from your soundbar
Yes, it is possible to connect your soundbar to a TV with an ARC interface, but you will not be able to take advantage of all of the features that the soundbar has to offer.
HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel) is a standard audio return channel technology that allows audio to be transmitted from a TV to a soundbar or other audio device. eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel) is an improved version of ARC that supports higher bitrate audio formats.
If your TV only has an ARC interface, you will still be able to connect your soundbar to it and enjoy basic audio functionality. However, you will not be able to use formats such as Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, MPEG-H, 360 Reality Audio which require higher bitrate audio formats.
If you are looking to get the most out of your soundbar, we recommend connecting it to a TV with an eARC interface. This will allow you to enjoy the full range of features that the soundbar has to offer.
Sennheiser Ambeo Soundbar Max and your room
The AMBEO Soundbars include an advanced calibration technology that captures knowledge of the room environment to adapt the sound output to the room as best as physically possible. However, there are a few things you can do to achieve the best possible results:
- Position the soundbar as close to the center of the front wall as possible. This will help to create a more balanced soundstage.
- Avoid placing absorbing surfaces (such as curtains) on reflective areas on the sides of the room. This will help to reflect sound back into the room and create a more immersive sound experience.
- Position your couch area centered in front of the soundbar. This will help to ensure that everyone in the room can enjoy the same audio experience.
- Recalibrate the system once the room layout has changed. This will ensure that the soundbar is properly calibrated for the new environment.
To get the best possible sound from the Sennheiser AMBEO Soundbar, you will need to:
- Make sure your TV supports eARC. eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel) is a newer version of ARC (Audio Return Channel) that supports higher bitrate audio formats. This will allow the soundbar to receive the highest quality audio signal from your TV.
- Use a certified Premium High Speed HDMI cable. The HDMI cable that comes with the soundbar is a certified Premium High Speed HDMI cable. This type of cable is required to support the high bitrate audio formats that eARC can transmit.
- Set the right sound settings in your TV. The sound settings in your TV will need to be configured to output the highest quality audio format to the soundbar. The specific settings that you need to change will vary depending on the make and model of your TV. However, you will typically need to set the output format to "Dolby Atmos" or "Bypass."
The Sennheiser AMBEO Soundbar Max is designed to work best in room sizes of around 40 square meters (~430sqft). However, if you connect it to an AMBEO Sub, you can amplify the sound and enjoy the same immersive audio experience in larger rooms.
The AMBEO Sub is a wireless subwoofer that adds deep bass to the soundbar, making it ideal for larger rooms.
PLEASE NOTE: only one wired subwoofer connection to soundbar Max is recommended and possible without potential calibration issues. Ambeo Soundbars Plus and Mini support up to 4 wireless subwoofer connections.
How it works
The AMBEO Soundbars Mini, Plus, and Max all use virtualization technology to create a surround sound experience from a single soundbar. The product size, the number and type of speakers used in each model differs will create slighly different actual immersive reproduction.
The AMBEO Soundbar Mini has active 6 drivers and uses advanced virtuatization for sophisticated effects.
The AMBEO Soundbar Plus uses 9 drivers, including two dedicated physical top drivers. This results in an excellent immersive sound experience, with better separation of instruments and vocal and advanced, realistic top effects.
The AMBEO Soundbar Max has 13 drivers and creates the most advanced immersive experience. This results in an outstanding immersive sound experience, with the most realistic immersive reproducation possible from one device.
The AMBEO Calibration process is initiated by holding the AMBEO buttons on device or remote for three seconds. The process is easy and takes approximately 3 minutes.
During the calibration process, the soundbar will emit a series of tones. These tones will be picked up by the soundbar's microphones and used to create a digital image of the room's acoustics. This information is then used to calibrate the soundbar's sound profile to the physically best possible degree.
The AMBEO Calibration process is essential for getting the best possible sound from the Sennheiser AMBEO Soundbar. It ensures that the soundbar is properly adjusted to the acoustics of your room, resulting in a more immersive and enjoyable audio experience.
The AMBEO Soundbar uses virtualization technology to create a surround sound experience from a single soundbar. This technology renders a total of 5.1.4 channels, which includes top and rear channels. The top and rear channels create a surround bubble, which simulates the sound of speakers being placed in the rear of the room.
While the AMBEO Soundbar does not have physical speakers in the rear, the virtualization technology is very effective and can create a convincing surround sound experience. In most cases, the sound reproduction from the AMBEO Soundbar is comparable to a dedicated home theater system with multiple speakers.
Yes, the Soundbar incorporates physical top drivers and advanced virtualization algorithm to create sophistaced top effects.
The Sennheiser AMBEO Soundbar Max has 6 4-inch woofers that can produce deep bass down to 30Hz. This is an absolute market-leading performance for an all-in-one device low-mid volume levels and is appropriate for a good listening experience in most rooms.
However, if you have a larger room or want to experience very deep and loud bass, you may want to consider connecting an AMBEO Sub. The AMBEO Sub has a 8-inch woofer that can produce bass down to 27Hz, which is significantly lower than the soundbar. This will add a significant amount of bass to the soundbar's output and create a more immersive audio experience.
